The Sagadahoc County Beekeepers Association welcomes residents of Sagadahoc and adjacent counties who are currently keeping bees, or just thinking about it. Meetings are both social and educational, for all beekeeping experience levels. We also offer mentor matching for novices.
Meetings are held at the Topsham Grange Hall, 47 Pleasant St off US Rt 201 in Topsham, on the 2nd Wednesday of every month. Doors open at 6:00 pm for socializing and refreshments. The business meeting starts at 6:30, followed by a guest speaker, round-table discussion or workshop at 7:00 pm. Open hive events are held during the active beekeeping season.
In June 2025 a volunteer-driven effort was made to create a club apiary for learning purposes. Located in Topsham, several donated colonies are now in use for teaching demonstrations.
SCBA holds “Bee Breakfasts” on the 4th Saturday of each month, from 8-9 am at Fairground Cafe in the Topsham Fair Mall. Come for breakfast (or just coffee) and talk about our favorite subject: honey bees! All beekeepers are welcome.
SCBA has established an annual “Bee School” through Merrymeeting Adult Education each February and March. Member volunteers conduct weekly sessions, educating and familiarizing novice beekeepers about biology of the honey bee and best practices in hive management.

SCBA’s swarm team consists of local beekeepers who are willing to collect honey bee swarms free of charge in Sagadahoc County, greater Brunswick and beyond. If you can’t reach anyone in your area, try another beekeeper in an adjacent town.
